Welcoming our communities
We are reaching further into the communities we serve
with our Community Safety Centres (CSCs).
The CSCs are not only a hub for safety advice, but they also
provide meeting room space and Internet access, free of charge
to local community groups.
CSCs help contribute to the safety and well-being of our community,
helping protect them from fire and other hazards. The
centres provide easy access to information, education and
advice at the heart of the community.

We want our nine Community Safety Centres
(CSCs) to be accessible to all. Our centres at Bath, Keynsham,
Nailsea, Patchway, Temple/HQ, Weston-super-Mare and Yate meet
the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). Our
centres at Southmead and Speedwell also meet the recommendations,
but do not have a hearing aid loop system installed.
Our fire stations which do not have a CSC are
not intended to be accessed by members of the public and therefore
do not have full disabled access. However, if you want to arrange a
station visit, please get in touch and we will try to accommodate
your request. Read more
about arranging a station visit.

In October 2006 Chair of Avon Fire Authority, Councillor Terry
Walker, opened the Speedwell Community Safety Centre
(CSC).
Speedwell CSC is currently used by a first time mums’ group.
They visit the centre once a week to meet with other mothers with
children aged 0-6 months. The Health Visiting Team also runs infant
massage and first aid courses at the centre.
