Sunday 7 March
16.42 Wilson Street, St Pauls,
Bristol
Firefighters have been tackling a well developed fire at a
building used as flats and studios.
When crews arrived on the scene they could see flames coming out
of the roof of the five storey property and thick smoke was
covering a large area of the city.
At the height of the fire more than 20 firefighters tackled the
blaze using two 45ml jets, three high pressure hose reels and the
turntable ladder was used to get water on to the flames from
above.
The Avon Fire & Rescue Service Control room received around
40 999 calls to the incident from members of the public who could
see the smoke and flames across the city.
Crews remained on the scene of the fire overnight damping down and
checking for hotspots.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is expected to get
underway today.
