Plimsoll Bridge, Cumberland Basin, Hotwells, Bristol
A young driver had
a lucky escape when his car ended partially overhanging a bridge
following an RTC in Bristol.
Fortunately the
railings prevented the vehicle from travelling further over the
bridge and kept the car secure.
When crews arrived
on the scene they found the driver of the vehicle – a man thought
to be aged around 18 years old – still inside the car and believed
to be suffering from suspected spinal injuries.
Firefighters used
hydraulic cutting gear to remove the roof and, working with
paramedics, lifted the man out of the vehicle on a spinal board. He
was then taken to hospital by
ambulance.
