Fire Safety information for parents
Fire is one of the main causes of accidental injury and death
amongst children. Help keep your kids safe from fire - talk to them
about the dangers of fire, and how to prevent a fire happening.
Teach your children what to do if there is a fire - make sure
you have an escape plan, and that you and your family practise it
together.
You can find out more about helping your child stay safe from
fire on the Government
website ‘FireKills’, including useful links and a PDF leaflet -
fire safety information for parents and carers.
Find out more about fire safety in the general
fire safety tips area. You can also download a range of
fire safety
leaflets.
On this website you can find some great fire safety games,
letting children learn and have fun at the same time.
Are you worried your child might become a fire setter?
Most children show a natural interest and curiosity in fire.
However, for some young people this interest develops into
something more dangerous, putting themselves, their family, friends
and homes at risk. Children under 10 cause 6,000 fires a year.
