The Team practise for the Challenge

Testimonials in support of the Jampotters' Mount Snowdon Appeal

Sir Ranulph Fiennes

The first man to visit both the North and South Poles, and to completely cross Antarctica on foot.

'I am very pleased to offer my support to two branches of service, for which we should all be proud and grateful. I would like to encourage as many as possible to involve themselves in helping Mike’s team raise funds for the two charities; ‘Help for heroes’ and ‘The Firefighters Charity’. I wish the 3 peaks contingent every success on the day and would like to pass on my admiration for their efforts. Good luck!'

Ludo Macaulay

Three Peaks Challenge Organiser

‘I have been organising ‘Three Peaks Challenges’ on behalf of the Fire Services for 27 years. In that time, in what has become the fire service's largest sporting event, (featuring in the National Geographic/July 2004), more than 1,700 teams, comprising of over 15,000 individuals, have enjoyed a safe annual mountain challenge with 96% achievement rate within 24 hours and also helping to raise several million pounds, for dozens of national and local charities. For the past six years the Jampotters from Avon Fire & Rescue Service have dominated this very challenging physical endurance event, which is a marathon distance and ascends over 10,000 feet, more then a third of the height of Everest . Their team of 2007 set a new record for this event of 15 hours and 22 minutes including 11 hours of compulsory time added for traveling the 500 miles between the three National Peaks of Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon in North Wales.

For the same team to tackle this stunt on Mount Snowdon - 3,560 feet in breathing apparatus - does not surprise me, but in full firefighting kit as well as being the warm month of June, it will be a tough challenge. As a fund raiser for ‘The Fire Fighters Charity’, I would love to see Mike’s team reach their target. The charity exists for injured firefighters and those who also serve the community in any fire services and their dependants during their times of need and annualy assists over 15,000 beneficiaries, *now including some UK burns victims, by providing pioneering therapy treatment and support services. So I would encourage everyone to recognise the efforts of Mike’s team and fully endorse their aims. Good luck to the whole team!

David Hempleman-Adams

The first man in history to reach the Geographic and Magnetic North and South Poles as well as climb the highest peaks in all seven continents

'Mike and his 3 peaks teams, ladies included, have experienced considerable success over the past 6 years. Throughout my career, I have harboured the utmost respect for individuals serving both in our Armed Forces and the Fire Services nationwide and therefore have no hesitation in wishing Mike’s team every success on Mount Snowdon on 6th June 2009. Both charities are extremely well deserving and I sincerely hope the target of £10,000 is exceeded.'
